Show Summary

At the top of the show Adam talks about visit Jay Leno’s garage with Sonny over the weekend. He also tells the awkward story about his mom that he alluded to last week. The gang also discusses the latest stories in the news including: The incredible amount of fireworks going off in Los Angeles on the 4th, the winners of Nathan’s annual hot dog eating contest, the NBA looking into a tape delay due to foul language, and the Washington Redskins potentially changing the name of the team.

Adam welcomes actor, filmmaker and humanitarian Sean Penn to the show to talk about Sean’s disaster relief non-profit organization CORE (Community Organized Relief Effort) which is currently administering free COVID-19 tests across the United States. Then Adam tells a story about going out drinking after Loveline one night with Sean’s late Chris Penn. This leads to a discussion about Sean’s father Leo Penn who was also an actor and a WWII veteran. Before the break they talk about their shared experiences with woodworking.  After the break, Adam brings up Sean’s father again, who was blacklisted by Hollywood due to his political beliefs, and asks for Sean’s thoughts on today’s cancel culture.
