Show Summary
At the top of the show, Adam talks to Bryan and Gina about some of Matthew Modine’s great performances over the years. He then shares what he learned about Frederick Douglas from a recent Prager U video, as well as a sensational article in the NY Times about white supremacy. RJ Bell then calls in to discuss his picks for this weekend’s upcoming NFL games.
Matthew Modine is in studio next, and Adam chats with him about his earliest roles and how he became a household name. Adam then rants about teacher unions and not accepting vouchers, and Matthew talks about going fly-fishing with Liam Neeson. Later they discuss Matthew’s childhood, and how his old acquaintances must have reacted when he starting popping up in every movie. He also shares some memorable behind the scenes stories from Full Metal Jacket, as well as real war stories his family experienced.
Gina begins today’s news talking about the LA Angels possibly being fined $2million for not reporting Tyler Skaggs’ opioid abuse. They also discuss ending the GM strike, Eddie Van Halen’s cancer, and a local hero in Boston who disarmed someone trying to rob commuters. Other news stories include Gavin Newsom legislating a later start time for middle schools and high schools, a Florida man addicted to mac and cheese, and ‘Jesus shoes’ injected with holy water.
