Adam opens the show to a great intro from Dawson, written by Lynch attacking his grammar policing from yesterday, “invoke/evoke” and BB has a great #TopDrop of Gina quoting Si Mix-A-Lot and they all marvel at Katrina’s good looks and how she held up for all of the seasons of ’30 Rock’ and they move on to luck.

Adam is explaining how humans are wired to avoid shame as he tells them about all of the articles he’s been seeing tweeted at him about luck and its role in success as of late.

Adam doesn’t mention the “Luck” discussion had about him on This Life #29.

Adam uses his son as an example and how kids will blame things such as the other kid having new shoes as the reason they lost a game.

Adam comments on the bygone era he comes from the ‘Billy Jack’ era of his mom and all of her hippie pals, the narrative was that successful people are mainly evil, not much luck discussion.

Adam say the 1980’s it was all insider trading and being very rude to their staff, now it’s about luck.

Adam is asking about The New York Times writing about the relevance of luck, he says that’s for elderly Asian women trying to get their mahjong numbers lined up.

Adam is now giving examples of luck vs. unlucky when it comes to random events, luck has never been part of American culture.

BB is bringing up the cliché of luck in pop culture and how it’s not part of the equation, Adam is talking about football coaches hoping to get lucky to win games, that speech has never taken place.

Adam is saying that people say luck to fake humility and he brings up the time he asked Jeremy Piven how he is able to be in every other movie and he explains how he works the script and prepares and knocks it out of the park when he goes to audition.

Adam is referencing WEDNESDAY, JULY 14, 2004 – GUEST: JEREMY PIVEN • HOST: ADAM, DR. DREW

Adam says that Jeremy memorizes the script and gets jobs from his effort expended to get them, luck is not a factor at least not one that matters.

Adam is talking about how this nation does it best to entertain all comers, tall or short bring your best effort and ideas and we’ll see.

Adam talks about working 50 hrs. per week digging ditches and cleaning carpets, he says don’t get mired in the argument about who is working harder, the guys on the street doing construction will always beat out anyone in a board room, but it’s not about that.

Adam says the goal is to get people separated with more of their money and the narrative is that they only got this money due to being lucky, Adam explains he found out he’s paying about 40% in taxes.

Adam says the narrative is designed to shape the truth, you don’t get this narrative by talking about his hard work and effort.

BB says the government is essentially a business partner with him and Adam comments on how much more money the government gets than his producing partner Nate and even his agent James Babydoll Dixon.

Adam asks how we sell to the people that people paying 40% need to give way more than their fair share, he has a 40% vs. 41% example with a truck driver paying 13k while he pays over a million.

BB tells Adam this is quite a leap of logic and Adam is now breaking down his math and his point, who need an extra 2 million? Who the fuck cares and mind your business.

Adam says the new narrative is two things, it used to be evil and daddy’s money.

Adam says you have two friends and you need to convince one of them to buy you a used Camry, he is now describing the two chaps, one is ala Mark Geragos and one is a flunky with inheritance, you make a judgment about the effort at play to get the money, he’s reverse engineering his logic and he’s right, once again!

Adam says the newest one is luck, just say it’s lucky.

Adam is using lottery winners and long lost family members asking for favors to make a point about money and entitlement.

Adam says Gary will read the article in one minute, Adam says there is a part he takes umbrage with, funny line from BB.

Adam is now doing a Blinds Galore Live Read

Fluorescent lights might not be healthy edition

Gary is reading an article that takes portions of the New York Times article, Adam interrupts Gary to address the point about talent and hard work not being sufficient enough to guarantee success.

BB talks about his hard working friends who are all very successful and the causation that must be at play.

Adam has Gary read it back just to piss him off and he does.

Adam stops him 3 word later, Adam is talking about the losers who want to push back and Adam says nobody in the studio knows how many times they were almost killed by a drunk driver.

Adam talks about driving past Ennis Cosby being executed on the side of the road, that could have been him.

Gary is now reading about an economist who survived a heart attack as an ambulance that was driving by randomly.

Gary is stopped again as Adam addresses the “significant” word usage.

Gary is reading the logic from this ridiculous article, Adam is now asking for the far reaching implications and ask what happens if Mark Cuban thinks he’s not super lucky, what if he calls his success motivation and hard work.

Gary is now at the part about a “hindsight bias” and Adam asks why Mark Geragos should sit around and marvel at his luck to live a life that is one big law brief.

Adam says yes of course he’s lucky to be born in this country, Adam says celebrities say fortunate and Gina brings up the use of “Blessed” and Gary is back to the article, he’s doing a nearly flawless job reading it, very solid delivery.

Adam is going off again and lets Gary read and then comes back in for more anger.

Gina is bringing up inheritance and how someone people use daddy’s money to create more success and don’t’ blow it all, that takes skill.

Adam talks about his Assistant Jay who didn’t pass the bar exam after studying and working for 3 months, Adam says he learned that his field his closer to Adam’s interests, he helped him realize that, Adam gives a self-satisfied sniff.

Adam talks about Jimmy Kimmel and how he views people, he says that his kids will be lucky to get their foot in the door but they need skill to make it to the writer’s room.

Adam says yeah what is good with him meeting Jimmy Kimmel, he’s set for life?

BB brings up Jeremy Piven and his crossing/x where luck and talent met that led to the success of ‘Entourage’ and Gina shares her take on Breaking Bad in repos one to Adam’s point that series.

Gary is back to the article and Adam is addressing Robert Frank and guesses that based on his horrific wiring he makes 100k max, Adam is now talking about the infrastructure that’s paid for by taxes.

Adam is now addressing the use of “public spirted” and BB can’t even figure it out, Adam has a killer “orphans without guacamole” joke about where Dawson would send all of his tax dollars, Dawson gets on mic with a killer reply going on with the joke, nice.

Adam has a killer “Shaq’s Shoe” charity auction joke where you didn’t even want one of his shoes but now you need the right shoe as you already have the left from the past charity auction, BB is making a point about voluntary altruism among the wealthy.

Adam brings up how rich people get roped into shit and BB says rich people pay the most in charity by far, who cars why they do it, they do it.

Adam jokes about not liking to too his own horn, Adam is bringing up the two guys who came in after bidding on the lunch for the ‘Road Hard’ campaign, Matt told Adam that the guy wanted to arrange another lunch and Adam is describing doing standup in the guy’s backyard.

Gina wishes she had video and Adam reveals Mike August was the only one there, Adam says he agreed to the lunch and had them give the money to charity instead.

Adam is talking about the two guys, one of them was Mormon and Adam jokes about him almost making the Olympics and that must have been all due to luck, he’s shifting arguments and mocking the article and trying to determine which part of this guy’s life is due to luck.

Adam says the Mormon guy was curious about Adam giving money to a catholic charity, hilarious “ghee was curious” comedy with Adam and BB, joking about him trying beer and making out with Ace, gross and hilarious!

Adam is doing a Castrol Live Read

Gary just left and Gina is waiting for him to get a question for them, she asks what the typical mileage range is for synthetic vs. non synthetic oil, Adam says it’s about 3 times longer than the non-synthetic stuff.

Adam says pay more and go full synthetic.

Adam is back to his cliffhanger button for the argument about luck, Adam says the bigger peeve of this and the worst part is if you read this article and by this definition you’re not lucky, you have a wife that weighs more than your car with 4 different door panels.

Adam is saying that chances are you’re not a millionaire, you are relatively young and you might as well pack it in, give up on life.

Adam asks if there is an amount that will help the guy with the fat wife and the Tercel, what amount will change his life.

Gary is finishing off the article and Adam interrupts him immediately, mocking the use of “essential” and then Gary carries on, Gary notes the use of parentheses and Adam says he doesn’t need to be more generous, he pays on average as much as 1k citizens and he gets nothing for it.

Adam asks how grateful you’re supposed to be with the fat wife and the Tercel, if you’re a have not and this article only dooms your future to be as miserable and difficult as your past.

Gary is now addressing the closing argument that contradicts the opening two thirds, Gary reads that it is a high societal cost and Adam says fuck you and calls the writer a fucking asshole.

Adam asks why they’re printing this shit, why are they poisoning everyone?

Gina asks about The New York Times writing this and Gary says this guy writes about this topic, he has a book on luck and another article from 2009, they have some April tax/fool’s day confusion and Adam jumps back in and asks “to what end!?” while quoting Dave Dameshek.

Adam teases the arrival of Katrina, he plugs her new movie ‘Hard Sell’ and he plugs Ranker Podcast.

Adam mentions that Robert Herjavec will be guesting soon and he remarks on how many Ferraris the guy crashes, they head to break.

They’re back from break with a new ‘Deficiently Not a Jew’ involving an abandoned child and a Kool Aid purchase.

Adam reads some of Katrina’s credits and the ‘Sexiest Woman Alive’ title from 2011, Katrina plugs her new movie and Adam asks about a ’30 Rock’ revival and Adam asks Katrina how cool is Tina Fey and how much of a douche is Alec, tongue in cheek on the last part.

Katrina talks about Alec and BB plays the “Quiet” drop, Adam says Alec must get into politics and this new era that Trump has unlocked will make it ok for someone with multipole paparazzi run ins to run and likely win an elected office.

Adam is talking about Katrina starting ’30 Rock’ when she was 17 and he comments on how cool that was that she was able to be done with a hit series and still be young and beautiful.

Adam jokes about pushing his gawky awkward years off until his 1960’s and BB mentions the movie ‘Tucker and Dale vs. Evil’ and BB says he thinks many people haven’t seen it, BB says you should go to college and further mocks her after whining about his point being shit on, funny.

BB is now breaking down the plot of ‘Tucker and Dale vs. Evil’ and Adam is now explaining how people always ask him how they get a Paul Newman DVD (Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman) and he jokes about their being a knothole in a tree and an owl standing watch, pick it up in the forest.

Adam says pretend it’s porn and you have a boner, then navigate the internet as you would, magically you’ll find it.

Q and Ace

1st Caller Jennifer wants to know how to make friends and sustain relationships in a new city (Boston), Adam tells her to grab a Yankees ball cap and a Giants jersey then go outside…

Adam is asking her what is slowing her down and Adam says you got to have a regular spot and Gina agrees, Adam asks her what she looks like and she says she was told she was a 7, so she presumes she’s a 5.

Adam says a 9 is not going to blow a 6 ½ and Gary now demands her Instagram so he can check her out, Adam asks her about her social anxiety and she says she went through high school not speaking, nearly mute.

Katrina says she meets lot of people with her dog and tells her to get an emotional support dog, Adam mocks that idea and quickly moves past it and asks her about being nearly mute and what was going on.

Adam suggest she take an improv class, you’ll be able to make fun of other people for fucking up and not being able to properly lift the manhole cover, Adam says the space work is always the best part.

Adam is now talking about the finger with the gun pantomime and Gina asks about the phone, Adam talks about the missing days of operator switchboard humor, overburdened switchboards, as most recently portrayed in ‘Mad Men’ season 1, Gina brings up the gossip eavesdropping and Adam mentions the party line.

Gina recommends therapy and Katrina asks about his life in Austin, Adam tells him that he’s depressed and Adam suggest long walks and classical music.

Ada masks how many douchebags names Austin are living in Austin now?

Gina’s News

1st Story is on Michelle Fields, the reporter who worked for Brietbart and claimed to have been manhandled and bruised by Trump’s campaign manager.

Adam references ‘The Facts of Life’ and Adam is talking about the footage he saw that looked like someone grabbing sunglasses off of a barstool.

Gary is now asking which clip to play, Adam is doing some commentary and Gina now adds her own commentary and Adam is mocking bamboo chairs, shouldn’t they just be straight steel.

Adam wants to know when the clip starts with the action, Gary is asking for a moment and Gina is saying she didn’t know she was supposed to play a link, Adam asks what is going on and they have an off air production discussion on air, explaining how the fudge is packed.

Katrina asks if that was it and Adam says if you have to ask then you know nothing happened.

Gina is now explaining that Fields will be working for a liberal organization with HuffPo, liberal in name not actions.

Adam talks about being a victim and the goal of removing successful people by outnumbering them with victims.

Adam talks about people who lose a limb and how we go out of our way to not let them feeling like a victim, but emotionally if you feel like a victim then you’re now broken for life?

Adam says that anyone can pose for any picture and look like they’ve been hurt, Adam says he could have BB squint and look sad and build a backstory of him being backhanded.

Adam asks when it became so common for people to shout from the mountaintops that they’re a pussy, he gets it with women but guys, he brings up Nate Adams and his take on pussy dudes.

BB brings up the flopping the NBA and how everyone is pretending to be a pussy now, Adam says that the same arm grab this woman experiences probably happened a thousand times while she was trying to get passed security at this very venue, she knows it too.

Gina has the video and Adam jokes about it being Ethel Merman singing over them.

Dawson and BB talks about backing tracks and mistaken labels, it could happen.

Adam says he had a conversation today and clarifies his asshole/racist theory and he gets a dig in about Chris and his “nursing background” and Adam says he thinks people are more fuck ups than homophobes.

Adam says that some guy showed up with a bed that Adam’s wife had ordered, they wanted to drop it off and Adam brings up the assembly confusion.

The bed is meant for Lynette’s office?

Adam jokes about his crew member full tard Gary, does he hate gay people or is he just a fuck up.

Adam is now watching the video and Dawson says this board op is an idiot and Adam talks about people never calling to clarify his instructions and Gina reveals the employee is being disciplined.

Adam is now asking if it was Faith Hill who was singing and he fucked upon would the board op be disciplined for that, it’s a different fuck up if the gay group was singing, special rules, he’s being disciplined to shut up the powers that be, the angriest people in the world over at GLAAD.
