01 Feb Anjelah Johnson-Reyes
Show Summary
At the top of the show, Adam talks with Gina about this past weekend of NFL games, and why he won’t be attending the Super Bowl in person. The guys also talk about Bill Maher’s thoughts on over-regulation and hypocrisy in California. Comedian Anthony Rodia then joins the pod to talk about leaving a lucrative job for comedy, not having proper support from teachers and parents, and everyone being an expert on Covid. Before the break, the guys talk about the unintended consequences of everyone trying to control other people’s behaviors.
Comedian Anjelah Johnson is in studio at the top of Part 2. Adam chats with her about her upbringing in San Jose, dreaming of being a ‘chola’, and her days being a cheerleader for the Oakland Raiders. They also discuss her path to comedy, and following her dreams of being an actress. Later, Gina asks Anjelah about how comedy has shifted since her earlier character work got her on the map, and if the cycle of cancel culture will ever end. In the last part of the show, Gina reads news stories about Tom Brady’s potential retirement announcement, Joe Rogan’s response to the Neil Young / Spotify scandal, the Canadian truckers’ vaccine protest, the death of actor Howard Hesseman, a former Miss USA that jumped from a Manhattan building, and a scary PSA on human trafficking.
