Show Summary
Adam opens the show discussing his invite to watch this weekend’s boxing match at Aimee Mann’s house. He also talks about trying to sneak his own glass into a bar, and breaks down the ‘beer glass pecking order.’ Later he tells the story of his ‘do not touch’ cup in the garage, and complains about the height of football goal posts.
In the news, a lot of anger has come about as a result of this weekend’s Penn State vs. Nebraska football game. Alison also brings up attempts to ban helicopter noise, and the guys discuss the latest details of the Kardashian divorce. Adam then reacts to a story about violence among the elderly, and which popular brands are preferred by which political party.
Today’s guest is Tim Griffin (of Prime Suspect), who also has a history building houses in LA. Adam does a bit of carpentry talk with him, then goes back to discussing the goal post height in football games. The guys then play a rapid fire round of Totally Topical Tivo Trivia, and the show wraps up with stories about the judge who beat his daughter, a mountain lion in Burbank, and gay penguins.

Died laughing at Ace Man’s muttered/under the breath, exasperated ‘oh boy’ after Allison made the mistake about throwing harder/higher (through the uprights).
Also, Allison’s “I thought you liked sports, Bryan!” cracked me up.
Great stuff, guys. Listen every single day and cannot wait to see Ace Man come to Boston.
Also, was visting LA this summer and saw (for the first time) Adam live at Borderline’s in Thousand Oaks, Calif. Such a great night and I want to thank one of your staff members (kinda a husky dude, long hair wearing a ball cap that seemed to be directing flow of people into the seating area) who very kindly allowed me and my two friends to sit in an area of the venue which had been reserved for media. When we arrived, the place was filling up quickly, and this dude (I’m assuming he works for the Ace Man) was totally generous and without attitude let us snag some pretty sweet seats. It made what turned out to be an amazing night (got to meet Adam after, too, which was surreal!) even better. So, dude, whoever you are, thank you so very much!

I just looked at that field goal at the end of the first half of Saints vs. Falcons. Adam’s right–they called it no good but its hard to tell: higher goal posts would’ve solved it!

Darn, on the day that this guy’s interview airs his show gets canned (maybe) from the latest listing….tough news. Made me kind of feel for him when he talked about needing the show to help pay for his mortgages…

In the first 5 overtimes in the NFL this year, the team that received the ball first has only won once. Moving the ball 5 yards for the kickoff has negated any advantage the receiving team would have previously had. In fact, it might be a disadvantage to have the ball first since if you are forced to punt within the first or second set of downs the other team will have great field position.
Hey Bryan, it may be time to add the “great story, rich and compelling” drop during Adam’s water cup story. Riveting stuff. Great show though.
