Show Summary
As the show opens, Adam talks about an inappropriate shirt that got his maid’s husband sent home from work. Mariel then talks about her boyfriend’s passion for raw vegan food, and how she eats healthy as well. She and Adam also talk about the multiple suicides in the Hemingway family, and how a regimented lifestyle can prevent you from a darker fate. Mariel also talks about the importance of maintaining ritualistic traditions like cooking for your family.
Adam and Mariel then flash back to how her career got started. She talks about her roots in Idaho and how Woody Allen saw her in a film, ultimately writing ‘Manhattan’ for her. Adam also asks if there is any ‘Hemingway money,’ and Mariel talks about her efforts to produce a film based on her grandfather’s novel. Later she talks about her new independent movie, ‘Archie’s Final Project.’
In the last part of the show, the guys talk about Mariel’s journey to be a creative and driven person without being self-destructive. The show then wraps up with a conversation about Cupcake Wars, and the joys of Twitter.

That’s not a beret…And when you’re Adam’s age you can genuinely wear one of those. He looks good in it too. But I guess to rednecks, anything that’s not a NFL cap and doesn’t have a massive logo in primary colors that extends all the way over the bill probably looks hipster-ish.
He does look better in a baseball cap, the beret is for special forces or guys who play guitar in coffee shops. Besides how old are you implying he is exactly?

We really need to hear about more raw foods bullshit? If you eat raw food, you’re fucking stupid. You know how I know we’re supposed to cook food before we eat it? Because it smells good. Your body is telling you that food should be cooked.

I like when these vegetarian/healthy eating people make claims like “bacteria being bad for people is actually a misnomer”. Salmonella, E. coli, botulism, etc. Yeah, these are all great things to eat.

pretty sure she was referring to bateria that aren’t fatal when ingested, and the tendency of demb people to conflate botulism, et al, with innocuous bacteria. apart from that, excellent point.
Great guest, last time I saw her was in a film with Peter O’Toole, Creator, she was absolutely delightful and brought it to the show, stimulating and vivacious!!

Great Show and great guest. Who knew that I would be liking Mariel so much, especially in a 1 on 1? She was delightful, funny and has a great attitude. Clearly one of the guests you click with on multiple levels as the conversations were in-depth and humorous. I will be keeping an eye out for her.

Great show. Wasn’t sure I was going to listen, but Mariel was instantly interesting and enthusiastic. I remember watching LIPSTICK as a kid on Z Channel, my first R movie, and being just absolutely riveted by this girl with the lipstick smear…

What a firecracker! Call me bigoted, but you rarely see a woman of her level of beauty and prestige with an interesting personality. Sure, I didn’t agree with everything Mariel said, but she was a compelling interview regardless. Can you guys bring her back some time?
