Show Summary

Adam opens the show discussing Sonny & Natalia’s t-ball game. Adam shares his frustrations about Sonny not wearing his team hat, and complains about kids not being afraid of their parents anymore. He also rants about a commemorative award where his name was spelled wrong, and online comments that pissed him off. David Wild is also in studio, and talks with Adam about some songs you probably don’t know, but should.

Greg Fitzsimmons joins the podcast next, and the guys commiserate over how crappy LA is for getting a crowd to see your comedy show. They joke about performing in Colombia, and discuss the violence and prostitutes in the city. Greg and David also talk about a project they were working on together a while back, and Adam jumps in to reminisce over crappy producers.

In the last part of the show, the guys jump to the phones to take your relationship calls. Adam speaks with a caller who wants to know about abuse victims, and another who is considering getting into porn. They also talk with a caller dating a girl with three kids from three dads. As the show wraps up, Greg recalls almost getting into a fight in Mexico, and Adam discusses getting harassed in the Hollywood Hills.

Wow…this guy could be Adam’s least favourite person. Someone with the same name as the owner of that property also posted the following:
“WHY would you promote garden sound systems? As a Hollywood hills resident, I have to endure neighbors’ music at all hours. With the Hollywood Bowl effect, garden music from half a block away sounds like it is just outside my windows.

Even in the flatlands, imagine the cacophony if every house on the block had an outdoor sound system.

Considerate people do not play music outdoors.”

    Dr. Thang04-18-2012

I used to enjoy Adam’s rants on how much radio music sucks, but then he had to go and ruin it by playing the generic, boring, instantly forgettable songs he does like. Now every time he starts talking about music, he sounds like a food critic who loves dodger dogs.

    • rusty400
      rusty40004-18-2012

I totally agree with that. His music is so bland and unexciting. Some of the music he talks about being terrible is actually terrible but not all of it. His view of music doesn’t really go much further than his own interests and everyone else must be crazy and tasteless. It’s one of the few things I don’t like about this show any more.

    • Adam's Hypocrisy
      Adam's Hypocrisy04-18-2012

His taste in music IS horrible! He is right about some bad music, like house and what not, but some things he doesn’t like are just wrong. But at least that’s still personal preference, not taste exactly. The Crap he actually plays on here is sooooo bad, yet he says once anyone hears it they will immediatly love it, they just need the chance to have him force it on them. He is so wrong. It is such bad music.

I agree with Adam 98.5% of the time…but his taste in music is not one of them. He is about the same age as the guys from Guns N Roses and they played all over Hollywood back in the day and I don’t recall him mentioning ever going to see them…very disappointing.

Gotta agree. I accidentally found myself at a John Hyatt concert a few years back (I thought he was opening for the Mississippi All-Stars; turns out it was the other way around) and Hyatt is just vanilla, safe, dentist-office background music that middle & upper class white folk dig. Not terrible, but just kinda blah…

      • Stev
        Stev04-18-2012

“vanilla, safe, dentist-office background music that middle & upper class white folk dig.”- that is the most perfect description of Hyatt’s music! At my former place of work they would play this song of his where he sang the line: ‘you got kids-a, and-a I got kids” in the most geriatric way. It always made me chuckle.

    • CNS

  41. R.J.
    R.J.04-18-2012

I’m a fan of the podcast. The content is great but the production side of things could be a bit better, especially when it comes to audio levels… they’re all over the place. It’s very noticeable when songs are played. The levels are so low you can barely hear the song, despite Adam’s on-going “turn it up”. I know there is a fear that the songs will drown out the on-going commentary but that’s nothing to be worried about (it’s part of the learning curve). In my opinion, when Adam wants us all to listen to a song then the levels should be as loud as Bald Brian’s audio drops with a slight decrease in levels when Adam is providing commentary during the song.
When I heard the Adam “breathing incident” I knew you were playing around with compression (that will suck up sound like a shop vac if you’re not careful) but it did display that you’re at least trying to make the show sound better… and for that I thank you.

Adam, I think it would be great if twice a week you had a listening party segment. You pick a song twice a week by a band we should have been listening to instead of the crap pop shit we’ve all been programmed to pick out “enthusiastically” to impress some other lower common denominator music listener.

Talk over the music and the musicians with your usual brand of nasally talk. Teach us what is bad and why. Do us all a favor and make it a regular segment, or better yet, make it a weekly podcast!
-Play Dawson’s music. I want to hear his story.
    -DO IT!

I would have captioned the photo ‘David Wild and Greg Fitzsimmons’ or reversed the photo but I may be wrong – maybe Greg got fat and grew hair.

BTW – don’t call Theresa babydgirl – Allison probably thought that was her own pet name.

Shows always great – thank you

Loved Adam and Greg trading homoerotic threats, they really hit their stride.

David Wild is a great addition to the show. His sense of timing is amazing for someone who is a writer by trade. If only the newsgirl had 5% of his timing.

Finally, the way a podcast should be: a couple of people just shooting the shit and not worrying about time limits or a fucking stupid interview. Easily teh best podcast in recent memory from the aceman. Ever since the format switch things have really gone downhill.

I especially hate it when they bring in really unfunny guests and Adam just mails it in. When he first started this was a past time, now it’s a job and he seems to hate it. Today reminded me of the first few months of teh podcast. Great show.

The picture of David, Ace and Greg look like the new 3 stooges. (David: Curly; Ace: Moe; Greg: Larry)

The comments from the auto blog were pretty weak. Not a decent slam amongst them. Not that they should even be trying, a win is a win. Adam deserves his moment in the winner’s circle.

Music of the 80’s: E. Costello, J. Jackson, The Pretenders…the examples given, all their first albums, technically came out in the 70’s. :)

Seriously, bitchin’ about music is like being Goldilocks…other people other taste…how can you argue favorite colors with other people?

Sigh….. another Adam’s best music ever list of Hiatt, Joe Jackson, & Parker just makes me like them even less when forced to listen to them. Kind of like that dude that cranks up something you’re not into and then keeps asking for approval of their music choices.

I’m liking David Wild, always solid. Fitzsimmons remains creepy, gross, rarely funny, and annoying when does his tough guy bragging. And Adam mentions his fight story for the 1000th time.

Okay, we get it, you like The Pretenders, Elvis Costello, Graham Parker and Joe Jackson. Now shut the fuck up about it and move on!!!

Start of the show, prime example of a wife having already undermined dad to the point of a disobedient child in a public manner. Not too cool. A common problem these days unfortunately.
Good show. Actually helps me decompress hearing another guy being frustrated.

as mentioned many times, that homo-erotic trash talk was absolute gold. A perfect example of why podcasting is so popular -traditional tv and radio simply does not allow two extremely fnny guys carte-blanche to just sit there and be as filthy as they want. Helicopter balls!

The homoerotic thing was the funniest thing I’ve heard in a long time. Played it three times and then played it again for my husband.

Was listening to this episode in my car on my way to work today and was stunned to hear Adam play a Victoria Williams’ song from her Loose album. I truly thought I was one of a handful of people who owned this album and really loved it. Who knew Adam had such good taste in music? ;-)

  86. ARZ

I generally agree with many of Adams selections concerning his taste in music and what gets played on the radio and satellite radios 80s station, but every time I hear Walking on Sunshine I want to puke. That is the worst fucking 80s song EVER played on the radio or anywhere for that matter. That song is the epitome of NO taste. Everything that group ever did SUCKS!!!

If there was ever one song I wish would never get played, I wish it was that one. Its HORRIBLE
