Show Page

Adam opens the show with a funny “pert’ near” riff sans BB who is with his wife who just delivered their first child, ala Adam Carolla in 2006 for the birth of his children when Jimmy Kimmel hosted with BB and Teresa along for the big event.

Adam and Gina have their own version of a #TopDrop and Sonny enters the studio in full fairy regalia, Adam welcomes him and he gets to explaining the riser he built for his jump roping, he says he can’t swap out to his other shirt he brought as he’s not done sweating from his pre-show jump roping.

Sonny is now on mic and Adam asks him to defend being taken out by Phil who knocked him down while they were running some backyard plays.

Adam asks Sonny about his noble quality of feeling sympathy for others after Adam brings up his reaction to Natalia’s injury.

Sonny is giving his commentary on Jimmy Kimmel’s excellent hosting duties on the Emmy Awards.

Adam is now relaying a story from mid-1995 where he was offered a radio show, he wanted to cohost it with Jimmy Kimmel and the producers told him that Jimmy wasn’t talent, Adam is mocking the infinite wisdom of radio program directors.

Adam is making a point about Jimmy Kimmel’s insane talent and how he’s now among the elitist of celebrities, he contrasts what the idiots in radio thought about him.

Adam is now quizzing Sonny about his favorite NFL player, he drops a few names and explains a bit.

Adam brings up Evil Knievel and explains his legacy with Snake River Canyon to Sonny, Sonny recalls a bad movie about Evil Knievel but he’s describing ‘Ghost rider’ and he’s mocking the writers and producers for messing up the math.

Adam is bringing up their recent guest Eddie Braun and his attempt to jump the snake river canyon, Adam shares his genuine fear he wouldn’t make it and they get Eddie on the lien after Adam goes to the wrong number first.

Adam is asking him about the canyon jump, Adam asks if he blacked out and he says he physically pulled the shoot and overshot the gorge by a mile, he brings up the controversy about Evil and his parachute and now Eddie is once again telling them about the fabricator who built the same rocket for Eddie, Adam jokes about having his dad’s original futon and Adam is now using exploding water heaters to explain the premise of steam rockets.

Adam has a funny “hot air” line and he explains Zenith to Sonny, mentioning the black and white TV he was forced to watch and Adam asks Eddie about the G forces he experienced, he had 0 gauges and doesn’t know the exact measurements of his travel at the peak nor landing.

Eddie tells them it was truly a controlled crash and describes the moment in the footage where he noticed himself realize he was going to live, he feared breaking his legs upon landing.

Remarkably he walked away without injury and Adam asks if we are done with this challenge, he says he was one and done and was going to only attempt this feat, even going to the lengths of building back up rockets in case he didn’t make it, he has now made it, done!

Eddie calls this experience a love letter to his children and Adam says he loves guys like Eddie and Adam is now asking for the gambling odds on his jump, Eddie is adamant he doesn’t know the details on that nor can really get into it, he calls this his mic drop and promises to fade into obscurity now that he’s done, wow!

Bye Eddie!

True Car

One day were going to get Sonny a used Chevette, maybe an Aventador edition

Sonny brings up the McLaren F1 in Leno’s shop, thanks to an assist from Gary who clarifies it’s the F1 and not the P1.

Q and Ace

1st Caller Matt, he’s asking if Sony has any misgiving about his stuffy Colin KaeperTed in light of the Colin Kaepernick controversy.

Sonny is now responding and mentions a piece of paper that was given to him by Dylan and Adam has him list his stuffies by name.

Sonny reads the paper that gives the details on who won and lost in the fairytale football league this week, Sonny is going a mile a minute and Adam tells Sonny to start a podcast with ray and Bruce so they can all talk over each other and not know what anyone is saying.

Adam has Sonny dismiss himself as BB joins them live form the hospital where Christie has just given birth and BB is now announcing the baby’s name.

BB reveals the name is Tessa and BB doesn’t recall Adam bringing that name up as a front runner for Natalia’s name, but Lynette named their boy and Adam chose their daughter’s name which Lynette preferred to her choice of Tessa.

BB is further describing what went down and he mentions the doula, Adam is now bringing Natalia into the studio as Sonny is waving alerting them she’s still on premises.

Natalia is now on mic and she confirms that mommy wanted to name her Tessa, very cute!

Adam asks the champ how her finger is doing, BB chimes in and Natalia clarifies she’s nice and jokes about not knowing about medical stuff, she’s great on mic!

Adam dismisses her and they joke about Jeffery Tambor’s Emmy speech and Adam says just a few short years ago we were planning Bald’s funeral and now we got this, BB is sharing the realization they had as a family the other day that he’s in the same wing of the same building where he was once plotting out the next 6 months of his terminal existence and now he’s celebrating his daughter’s arrival into this world.

Draft Kings

Gary has an update on the fantasy leagues edition

Adam is talking about visiting the headquarters of Funny or Die and explains how jealous he was that they had essentially a comedy HQ with people sitting around and generating comedy and ideas.

Adam says he had the same groups of loser dudes but there was no place to do anything like this, just bad coffee and late nights, nobody was getting paid to do it certainly.

2nd Caller John, he’s going to the Cincinnati show and the signing beforehand, he wants to know about the start of the show and the signings, he explains the “doors open” meaning and John shares the details of the drive he’s in store for to make it from the Carolla Drinks signing beforehand to the venue.

Adam jokes about him playing it safe and getting buzzed beforehand, John gets in a dig about Adam being funnier after one’s hand a few cockatiel and they head to break.

They’re back from break with Mike Farah making his ACS debut, they have a clip from the latest Take a Knee with Ryan Blair.

Mike is giving his take on the new world order of media in 2016 and how it’s been opened up for everyone to make things and he gets into “content” which he dreads saying but does so for the sake of brevity and simplicity.

Adam is sharing a conversation he had while at the races last week, talking about Pontiac and their various piles of shit, how they only needed a few cars to be successful to make up for the turds in the product line.

Mike says he thinks Funny or Die aspires to be a modern media business while also curating comedy, Adam asks how he became a producer and eventually the CEO of the company.

Adam is talking about how much he liked filming a 3-minute bit with the Funny or Die guys in about 2.5hrs, no “fat” or waste, they just got to it and got things done.

He explains the secret sauce of the company is pairing a strong comedic voice with young talented production types and marrying their strengths together.

Adam is now bringing up the motivational speech bit he did for ‘Dancing with The Stars’ and how difficult they were with the production details and tried to save a few bucks getting a PA to bake a cake instead of just buying one.

Adam gets to the turkey breast and how the producers just kept trying to ruin things, arguing the whole way after agreeing to the details via email in advance.

Adam is now playing the bit for Mike and Gina.

Gina asks about ‘Between Two Ferns’ after Adam explains the cut joke that everyone loved from the DWTS bit, the tanning compliment/check for Michael Irvin.

Mike gives some great details about the Between Two Ferns and now Adam is sharing how comedy doesn’t have a cutoff for failure, unlike sports.

Adam wants someone to get put on a list once they fail in comedy 3 times, they’re cluttering up the world with a lack of talent and making it harder for eyeballs to find the good stuff.

Mike further explains the ethos of the company and Adam mentions all of the cool names that make their way through the FOD studios.

Mike says Will Ferrell has crossed over to the Blue Collar world and the hipster world and cites ‘Talladega Nights’ to make a point about him essentially starring in Nascar branded content and Adam compliments the movie.

Adam is making a point about the super broad comedy and the very nuanced counterbalance in the film, Adam is talking about the songs in the Juke Box used to profile trouble makers from local guys in the scene with Sacha Baron Cohen’s character at the Honky Tonk.

SimpliSafe

No drilling, no pulling wires, no muss and no fuss edition

Gina’s News

1st Story is on the killing of Terence Crutcher, Gina gives them a prefacing on the details and Adam is now commenting on the video of the shooting, Mike makes a point about the judgmental helicopter cops.

Adam says that people should do what cops tell them to do and he makes a point about weight differential and how dangerous a man could be for a female officer.

Adam is curious if there are any stats on size discrepancies, Adam is happy they released the footage right away and Adam is cynically thinking they might have released the footage before the weekend.

Adam shares how badly he feels for Jimmy Kimmel and the Emmy Awards, as the next morning it was all about domestic terrorism instead of the award show, it’s not more important but the timing is crucial and he wonders if this video was released like this to hopefully garner less attention

2nd Story is on the kids from ‘Stranger Things’ passing out Peanut butter and Jelly sandwiches during the Emmy’s and they play a clip after Gina hints at some negativity they need to brace for.

Gina is about to get to the crap Jimmy is getting for his jokes about peanut allergies and gluten intolerance, Gina says the quality of the sandwich was also critiqued and Adam says it was a gag prop and asks if we must hear everyone’s take.

Adam is asking if people have any self-awareness anymore and wonders if these people don’t get they’re being mocked and Adam has a funny one liner as an angry attendee who prefers smooth.

Gina has a quote from a guy who represents an asthma foundation and Adam jokes about him inhaling douche in a puss hailstorm, we’re such colossal puss bags.

Adam is mocking the “I have a sense of humor” preface people who don’t’ have a sense of humor and Mike connects it back to the ability to create and comments on social media and human outrage that makes people think others care.

Adam says he should tell people that, “don’t ever expect people care” and Gina asks Mike about his experience in his role with FOD.

3rd Story is on the Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt separation/divorce.

Gina has all of the details and Adam says it’s gotta suck for the next dude who gets with Angelina and Adam is now saying the next dude is going to have to fill a pretty big condom, Adam has a killer line about humanitarians not looking great in their underpants.

Adam says he’s going to have to go home and explain to his wife that if this can happen to them it can happen to anyone, the sobering conversation he has when any other couple breaks up.

Adam is talking about how humans read into people’s jawlines, expecting Brad Pitt to be capable because of his appearance, but he might just be a dumb stoner type who likes to look through architectural magazines, he only looks like he’s intelligent and aware of things.

Adam is now talking about real wood working, he says he was on the same list with Brad Pitt who is into architecture but Adam suspects doesn’t get his hands dirty.

Adam challenges all celebrities to a build off and now goes over some basic construction terms and how he would challenge others.

Gina asks if Adam thinks Nick Offerman knows most of this stuff he’s mentioning thought it’s not his realm of carpentry and woodworking, Adam’s more structural and related to building homes.

Adam says he’s defensive about it as he’s not a hobbyist, he builds homes.

Life Lock

They’re back to the divorce topic and Adam is getting to the reality of weed and how it can cause someone to burn out, it stops working after about 20 years and Adam is talking about how this could be the reality of his marijuana addiction causing mood disturbances.

Gina says it makes sense and they further speculate for a moment before moving on.

4th Story is on Donald Trump Jr’s Syrian Refugee analogy where he used a bowl of skittles in a tweeted comment, Gina brings up the responses to the tweet and Adam is now asking if the makers of skittles need to stand up and comment on this happening.

Gina has quote from Gavin Newsom commenting on the analogy and Adam is now bringing up Joan Kimmel and the biggest league he ever got out of her and explains they were at a funeral and he cracked a line about a skittles commercial they were filming after she spotted a rainbow and claimed it was a sign from the heavens.

Adam explains the smoke was a 10 to her despite it being a 6 ½ removed from the situation and mood, it was a perfect storm for Adam’s joke to be received and Gina wraps the news and everyone pauses as BB is absent and can’t play the news stinger.

Castrol

Chunks of aluminum edition

Adam gives out the plugs and some lives dates, he wraps up the show with Gary chiming in on mic to explain the details of the upcoming trip and signing.

They say Manalo for Bryan, Christie and Tessa thanks to Gina chiming in, nice!
