Adam is opening the show with a missing Gina Grad, they’re recording early to accommodate Mark Duplass and Patrick Brice the creative team behind ‘The Overnight’ which was filmed at Adam’s house.

BB has some select loud drops of Gina and Adam welcomes Matt Atchity to the show, he’s asking him about any buzz about the summer selections.

BB is peppering in a lot of Gina, BB asks Matt about ‘Inside Out’ and Adam wants to know if anything is coming out they need to see.

 

Matt says he’s behind on hit movies and Adam wants to know what happened with Terminator Genisys, he asks if it was true word of mouth that ground the movie to a halt.

Adam says if the people’s score ain’t cracking the 70’s with its Rotten Tomatoes Score, Matt says that he’s heard that ‘Trainwreck’ might be a masterpiece.

Adam says the minions seem less than Pixar to him, Matt gives him the beats of the property.

 

1st Movie ‘Miss Congeniality (2000)

Adam goes in depth on Sandra Bullock and how she’s the attractive woman that women are cool with you being attracted to, Matt brings up Jesse James and Adam argues why some women will always have a spot for the bad boy type.

Adam is presuming critics weren’t too fair with this movie, he says 71, and BB goes with 73.

BB has a “whhhhhhhhaaaaaat!” reaction to the 42 score.

 

2nd Movie ‘Bridesmaids’ (2011)

Adam guesses 93, BB goes with 79.

Adam says that if it’s “girl power” you can add 15-20%

Adam is using the film ‘Old School’ and its lower score.

 

3rd Movie ‘Batman’ (1989)

Adam is asking about Keaton being the first batman after they dusted off the property, Adam says that if someone announced to fan boys that theirs cocks had grown 6mm wider they’d object and complain about it.

Matt Atchity tops it with a killer “that’s not true to the original property” quote with equal delivery, nice! Very funny.

Adam goes with 71, BB goes with 80

Matt shares how impressed he is by Adam and his wild guesses.

 

4th Movie ‘The King’s Speech’ (2010)

BB shares his thoughts on the film being too safe and too much Oscar bait, Adam goes with 89, BB goes with 94 and gets the 5 point bonus.

Adam is commenting on his lack of a 10/12 point lead at this point.

 

5th Movie ‘The Incredible Burt Wonderstone’ (2013)

Adam is going in depth on the movie, he says he’ll watch it any time it’s on and spoils the ending where they gas/drug the audience to fool their audience.

Adam and BB go with 19% and Matt shares the score 36%.

Adam says almost for sure the audience would be at a 60% for something like this, Adam can’t believe the critics are giving a higher score.

Adam says the bonus might have got him this week, nope.

Adam says going to Indianapolis for the 500 with Mario is like going to a hockey game with Wayne Gretzky, Adam asks him if he’s genuinely kind or some publicist got ahold of him.

Adam is commenting on the car he was in with Mario and how they never got up to speed, he says he feels so badly that they didn’t get to top speeds.

 

Adam says that sitting on a donkey would have had the same effect for him, Adam is describing the difference in driving vs. being a passenger and says if there was a button to stop the car he might lean on it between 165 and 180mph.

Mario is telling them about his family and their legacy of racing, Adam is talking about the empire Mario’s built and asks where they would all be if Mario’s family had never learned English.

BB shares the rare and noble goal of a young person trying to learn a new language in a few short months, BB asks if Adam is saying he was driven, ha.

 

Mario is telling them about his father and his brother, along with his brother’s injury.

Adam says that Mario is very generous with his time and wants to share his story, Adam says that guys like Paul Newman don’t look up to other actors, they looked up to men succeeding in other fields.

Mario shares the history of his friendship with Paul Newman, Mario shares a funny anecdote and Adam confirms it with video.

Adam shares his son’s appreciation for the fun time at Indy, Adam plugs the video of them driving and ‘Winning’.

BB shares how his great grandfather also hails from Italy and shares his funny almost stereotypical name.

 

Adam teases their upcoming guests and praises the film ‘Creep’ they made, he hints around the plot and makes it sound amazing.

Mark is making his 2nd appearance and Patrick is making his debut, Adam plugs ‘The Overnight’ the movie they shot at Adam’s house.

Adam is taking it back to their last movie ‘Creep’ and Mark explains how they constructed it, Adam shares the dustings of homoerotica in ‘Creep’.

 

Adam tell Mark about BB’s inoperable brain tumor, the movie ‘Creep’ uses the idea from ‘My Life’ and is back to the human reaction in the movie, where Patrick suppressed his fight or flight response the entire running time.

Adam has an excellent hitchhiking example to make note of the feeling in the movie, BB and Mark have a funny “rams battling” offshoot they kind of trail off on.

Patrick is telling them about the found footage element to ‘Creep’ and Adam compliments the perfect ending, Mark shares how they went back to the shooting of the film 10+ times after getting tips and advice from other filmmakers.

 

Mark and Adam both praise Naomi, Adam says she the example as why you should be mean to people who work for you.

Adam is engaging with them over the found footage process, Mark explains some of the lighting that was used.

Adam is now asking Mark about the marketing and distribution of ‘Creep’ vs. ‘The Overnight’ and he explains how he views the two projects, Adam has an angle on being realistic and objective to give yourself the greatest chance of success.

 

Adam explains how ‘Creep’ feels like an insane bootleg and Mark agrees and says that’s the exact metaphor he uses for the movie.

Adam asks Patrick what his plans are for the future, Adam asks Mark about his latest projects, he tells them about their show ‘Togetherness’ and Adam calls him Kevin Smith with talent.

Mark says they made an incredible amount of money on ‘Creep’ and has some kind praise for ‘Netflix’ and Adam is now asking Patrick about big budget projects possibly encircling him.

 

Adam says that Hollywood now sources talent from younger filmmakers, Mark says most of the scripts you get are bad, broken scripts with a star attached.

Patrick grew up working on cars, he objects to Adam’s comments about them not knowing cars, Adam explains the parking garage and the penthouse analogy he uses for oil distribution in cars.

Adam is sharing how most of the time someone hands you a script it’s not necessarily bad, it’s just not yours and Mark says 98% of stuff is just not right for him.

Mark has some very insightful comments about the consequences of taking on a project that’s not yours.

 

Mark explains how they based the script for ‘The Overnight’ off the production model, this is intriguing.

BB asks them about big budget projects that work, they talk about ‘Inside Out’ and Adam has a nice ‘In and Out Burger’ analogy.

Mark gets in another nice plug while explaining how he’s comfortable in his corner of the sandbox.

 

Adam is talking about John Favreau making ‘Chef’ for 13 million vs the super low budget stuff Mark makes, Adam says he predicts that eventually Mark will be doing a big budget movie.

Adam talks about James Gunn (A Superfan Gio Booking) and how his career evolved over the years since he started appearing on the podcast in 2009, he’s now one of the biggest directors working.

Adam says it doesn’t mean you can’t toggle back and forth.

Adam says that Patrick needs to take some high level meetings that Mark wouldn’t approve of while Mark needs to get to work.

 

Adam is commenting on how ‘Creep’ was done so well, he didn’t need the crazy sound mixes nor effects.

Adam says there are no false moments in ‘Creep’ it’s just solid top to bottom and fully grounded in reality.
