Adam opens the show with Mike Lynch making what’s now a rare in studio visit, Adam explains this is pre-taped, right before the Ted Cruz appearance on ACS #1556 to help you place it in your minds ear.

Adam is doing a Castrol Live Read

Adam explains how he first met Mike Lynch while he was a writer’s assistant for Jimmy Kimmel Live back in 2002, Mike brings up a comment Adam made about his intelligence being comparable to being fast in football.

Adam explains that Mike has the recipe to his comedy and they now shouldn’t travel in the same plane together, he explains for the longest time his work wasn’t “farm out-able” and had to be done by him.

Adam uses Teleprompters and Ryan Seacrest to make his point, Mike says his role ends up being more of an archivist and editor than it is writing.

Mike says this book had a crazy short turnaround time and the title was pitched for the 2nd book they were working on, he says that he went back to all of the old radio shows and things he was present for that he had forgot about.

Adam tells Mike he has blossomed as a comedian and he’s underplaying his role as archivist, Mike says he can capture other people’s voices but with Adam it’s the most seamless and jokes about hearing Adam’s voice in his head during therapy sessions, wow.

Adam is bringing up his agent Babydoll’s reaction to the book and the deadlines, he’s always amazed that Adam and Lynch are able to crank these books out.

Adam says that he creates so much content on the ACS that Mike then packages it up, Mike says he’s the shipping and receiving department of Adam’s “comedy factory” and has some another solid analogy and then a great factual statement about how Adam has at least one key joke or premise for every show and episode he’s ever recorded.

Mike is comparing himself to Lucy in the infamous episode/scene with the conveyer belt and the chocolates to make a point about the wide range of material he has to contend with.

Adam comments on how in the past he’s tried to do this with other people and they don’t seem to be able to generate any material let alone on the level that Mike comes up with.

Adam is complimenting Mike’s comedy stylings and how he not only has Adam’s voice but also his sensibility, so much so their jokes and lines are impossible to attribute to either guy.

Adam talks about the last time they did one of these back in 2012.

Adam jokes about him being on the New York Bestsellers list is like Stephen Hawking winning the UFC belt, hilarious.

Adam talks about his parents and family and their lack of interest in his career and how the literary success never seemed to move the needle even though he says he was somewhat expecting (possibly hoping) it would.

Adam and Lynch set up the chapter from the audiobook titled ‘What I learned from My Parents by Not Learning from My Parents’ after Adam jokes about how he knows his parents aren’t listening, holy shit.

This chapter is pretty solid, acknowledging the past books which established continuity among readers, clever.

He even references his mom being raised by her grandparents and the story of his dad’s father dying, it transitions to the Carolla vs. Carollo last name spelling story.

They are sharing a fat chunk, this must be a packed to the gills book.

The phrasing is fantastic, Adam is even covering beating off into a cup to provide the sample for his kids.

This is so great, solid recording and delivery too, nice work Dawson and anyone else who might have filled in.

This chapter even transitions to some great blimp comedy and dirigible technology, this is so funny!

Chicken Paprikash!

Grandma’s instant coffee!

This even gets to ‘Winning: The Racing Life of Paul Newman’ and the reactions of his mother and father, citing his interest in ‘King of Kong’ and credits Albert Brooks for the Complisult term and concept.

This Chapter is seemingly endless and so great as it progresses I hope it never stops, the comedy is flawless, not one false beat yet, the phrasing original and it’s meaningful.

Adam wraps it up with a lesson for parents about “putting their shit on hold” to raise kids, this is deeply profound stuff.

I had no idea what this book was going to be, I’m pleasantly surprised that it’s even above my expectations.

They wrap it up and we’re back to Adam and Mike Lynch explaining how the audiobooks always have bonus material and how one must by both to fully appreciate these pieces of art they keep topping themselves with.

Adam is now doing a live read for BlackTux.com

Adam is sharing the experience of shooting the cover with his family, he says he loves the permanent part of the books.

Adam says he did 350 MTV Loveline episodes, he did 400+ and claims to have never seen one, and he has 55+ in his personal archive.

Lynch is now sharing the emotional whiplash of ‘Not Taco Bell Material’ a Saint Jude (probably) statue and ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ all on the same shelf.

Adam says he thinks his mom has finally gotten around to ‘Not Taco Bell Material’ the book he really didn’t want her to read, Mike has a knowing reply and Adam is mocking the Carolla’s refusal to buy their own copies of his shit.

Adam says his mom would never ask him why he doesn’t have a copy of his own book, Adam fooling her into believing she truly rubbed off on him and he wouldn’t actually have a copy.

Adam shares the art of bullshitting and asks Gary if his mom has ever been to his warehouse, Gary shares its 12 1/2min even in the worst traffic to get from her place to the studio.

Adam is now sharing his “try not to be told things twice” policy for dealing with others, his expectations for himself and for the people he’s interacting with.

Adam says with his wife he gets into the mid 3 digit numbers with repetitive conversations, Adam says that if Mike said he wanted Adam to bring something Adam would make sure to leave it by the door not to disappoint.

Mike has a key therapist moment where he explains that Adam comes from a long line of disappointment and tries hard not to do that to others the way it was done to him.

They’re now having fun with his Adam’s mom’s address and the invisible force field keeping her from entering the warehouse.

Adam says he can’t verify if his mom read it and comments that “maybe a cruel listener sent it to her” which Mike labels a “Kimmel Joke” and Adam immediately cosigns on it.

Adam tells the fans to picture and extra copy of his books to make up for his family who refuse to spend any money on his art, he jokes about his late grandmothers wishes and Mike tags it with some great “will” humor.

Adam gives out the plugs for his various art, the movie ‘Winning’ and the live screenings and even ‘Take a Knee’ his hit subscription based motivation themed podcast.

Adam is doing a Live Read for Quick Books

Adam thanks the fans and wraps up the show with a nice closer, great episode, a little light on the Lynch though, next time how about 2 hours with a chapter.

In the middle of the wrap up music Adam comes back on and says “if everyone was Mike Lynch we’d be living in a boring utopia but it’d be awesome” then it fades out.

Is there more lost audio?

Even better than the last book preview, nice work as always Mike!
