Adam opens the show to a recent #TopDrop with Matt Atchity in studio, Adam is excited for the game and teases the phoner from Nick, BB and Gina are talking about the Rotten Tomatoes Game.

Adam is sharing how he’s perpetually annoyed due to his demanding schedule and how he’s trying to button up the latest season of ‘Catch a Contractor’ before he heads to Indy.

Adam is explaining how he has to schedule print interviews while he’s commuting, Adam jokes about the area he was driving past, spawn ranch where the Manson Family sat around camp fires telling ghost stories about themselves, Adam keeps emphasizing “we” and this might be Ace Awards 2015 material, this is insanely hilarious!

 

Adam is now giving his take on hearing the “heir to the” in the description a person who’s died, he says a homeless guy getting run over in a cardboard box is sad but an heir to the Folger’s coffee fortune had years of jet setting cut short by the Manson Family.

BB recommends the book ‘Helter Skelter’ and now Adam is sharing how he was doing an interview the entire drive and the voice on WAZE wouldn’t shut up, Adam asks why he has to “get off the page” and wants to know why can’t there be a mute button.

Adam is saying there needs to be a silent button, Matt says its bad design and he’s right.

 

Matt is now giving them some tidbits on GUI’s and Adam is back to how he was trying to talk over the WAZE person and he’s now feeling bad for poor Matt who must mirror Adam’s schedule to an extent.

Gina has a funny callback about Adam not having enough points to get what he needs from the app.

Matt predicts someone working on WAZE is a listener and will soon change it based on Adam’s ranting, Adam is now sharing how the interview went and explains why these print interviews have a different flow.

 

Adam and Gina are now recreating the conversation while BB is playing the WAZE sound drops, Matt is digging this and they all drop some funny one liners including Matt.

Gary says he doesn’t think the other party can hear the GPS instructions, I’m not sure that’s 100% accurate with all phones, this might be an apple thing.

Adam shares he sloppily wrote down Nick Offerman’s name last night unaware that he was calling in today, Adam is now plugging Nick’s latest project.

Nick mistakenly attempts to correct Gina when she plugs his live show, mixing up the airdate vs. when they are recording, Gina takes it in stride and is totally cool about it.

Nick has been on the ACS two times before, he first appeared on ACS #311 and then again on ACS #1182Superfan Sidebar.

He’s also been on Ace on the House as their inaugural guest on AOTH #1, he returned for Canoe Pride in 2012 and again that same year for We’ll Always Have Bunghole where Adam and Ray toured his woodshop and then in 2013 for Nick Offerman, Renaissance Man.

 

Adam is asking Nick about working with his wife and doing this live show, Nick says they have a lot of fun and enjoy each others sense of humor, it was engineered to allow them to travel around like an old timey showbiz couple.

Adam is asking him where’s calling from, funny Charlton Heston back and forth, Adam praises Nick book and says it was “impressive” and now Adam is praising Nick for his renaissance man verbiage and Midwest craftsmen forearms that often aren’t packaged together.

Adam is now asking him about his latest book he’s working on and Adam jokes about discussing the subject with his wife over breakfast, Adam cites the Japanese American internment camps and the infamous ACS episode where George really drove it home for Adam.

Adam is telling Nick about having to get the tools out and build, how it’s been invigorating him to work on ‘Catch a Contractor’ and asks Nick how craftwork and creative helps him in the rest of his life, he tells Adam this is the exact theme of his new book.

Nick recommends a new book to Adam and shares some wisdom about the topic.

Adam is sharing how he took his daughter to the hardware store where they bought new materials to improve her swing and zip line, Nick shares why Adam is such a success and compliments his good looks, nice.

 

Adam is sharing how he came around to learning after abandoning reading and math after the school system failed him, Adam is back to his entry into show business with his character ‘Mr. Birchum’ and BB has a solid royalties one liner that Nick reacts to, gold.

Nick plugs his next movie and Matt confirms that it’s 100% on the tomato meter, Gina compliments the ‘Smell Yo Dick’ rendition done by Nick and his wife.

Adam is asking Nick about his latest woodworking projects, Nick goes in depth on how learning new skills often enhances previously learned ones, using woodworking for his insightful analogy.

 

Adam is talking about his kids and homework and jokes about giving it a new name, BB and Gina chime in and Adam gives out another plug for Nick.

Adam explains he thought of Nick regarding his movie ‘Winning’ and wanted to get him a copy, that’s why he wrote his name down.

Gina praises the work of Nick and Megan and their classic sitcom roles, she’s right.

 

Adam says that Nick knows no boundaries and uses people who speak 9 languages or play 9 instruments to make a point about his unlimited abilities.

Rotten or Fresh – The Rotten Tomatoes Game

‘George Clooney Movies’ – Edition

Matt schools them on ‘Tomorrowland’ after Adam asks if it was a payday or a passion project.

 

1st Movie ‘Batman and Robin’ (1997)

Adam says the thinks people are just about done with this one now, they have been since opening weekend though.

Matt mixes up Steven Soderbergh and Joel Schumacher, Matt surprises them with the 11 score.

 

2nd Movie ‘Out of Sight’ (1998)

Gina loves the movie, Adam goes with 66, BB says 81 and Gina says 59.

Adam says he would’ve never guessed this movie was in the 90’s.

Adam asks for the top critics score.

 

3rd Movie ‘The Perfect Storm’ (2000)

Adam says he recalls this was a perfectly good movie with a low score, they all guess above the 47.

 

4th Movie ‘Leatherheads’ (2008)

Adam says the only thing he got out of The Hammer was his ‘Two Thumbs Up’ from ‘At the Movies’ and being given the ‘Best Sports Movie of the year’ designation from Sports Illustrated.

Gary gets on mic to explain how they can get the content off of Adam’s old TiVo’s, BB says it’s doable and they recommend he gets the video editor to use his setup to get it.

BB hasn’t seen it, Adam says he’s seen bits and pieces, Adam goes with 1%.

5th Movie ‘Monument’s Men’ (2014)

Matt put it on the list as he presumed Adam would’ve seen the WWII movie.

They tabulate the scores and Adam jokes about Gary going to college in Arizona, Gina beats Adam and he confirms this might be the highest scoring game ever.

BB further comments on it, Adam makes sure he doesn’t feel too good about it.

Duff McKagan is returning to the show after first appearing on ACS #678 promoting his first book in 2011, Duff sounds winded and his speech is a bit pressured, did he just jog there?

Adam is riffing about the wardrobe of ‘Guns and Roses’ and Duff is sharing his lifelong Seahawks fandom and Adam mentions Brian Bosworth and the infamous game from Nov. 30th 1987.

Duff is sharing how huge the Super Bowl win was for him and how that led to this book idea about what it means for him to be a man at 50 in today’s world.

 

Adam is commiserating with Duff about the demanding schedule of a book tour, Duff is sharing his radio tour experience this time.

Adam is bringing up the clip of the radio tour that they’ve played on the show before, BB confirms they’ve played it and quotes the “Gains burger” comment, we now have a new cleaner version of it, I should send that to them.

Adam says the mics sound weird to him, Adam is now recreating the gains burger analogy used for Loveline and Adam is explaining the pointed questions to Drew about working with the guy with the potty mouth.

 

Adam explains how he tapped out on air and just stopped talking, Duff is telling them about his latest tour and Gina brings up the ones that can be done from home.

Duff shares how he asked his sister if she snores and had to buy some wax for his ears to cover it up after her husband told him she snores badly.

Adam explains that Duff should be appreciated when he rolls into an interview and explains the different pressure for musicians vs. comedians. Duff compliments the intellect of Ben Gibbard.

 

Adam is asking Duff about what he’s doing music wise right now, Duff is confirming they play ‘Dream Police’ live and now they play some of it.

Adam is asking if he’s doing Guns and Roses songs on the road too, Adam is asking if Cheap Trick are one of the most underrated bands around and don’t get their due, he brings up their lack of acceptance into the Rock and Roll hall of fame.

Adam asks if Axl Rose is now just unable to do what everyone else seemingly wants, Adam compares him to Norm Macdonald who simply “can’t” show up and do his podcast.

 

Duff is now telling them about his book and the parts with Axl  and wants to know why mostly sober adults can’t just bury the hatchet or at least fake it, why leave that cash on the table?

Duff says that things take a definitive path for a reason, he says he was glad to reconnect with his old friend last spring, Adam says this isn’t saying anything bad about anyone, he just accepts Norm for who he is.

Duff says that Axl is totally capable of doing anything he wants, Adam talks about Axl being an enigma to most people and Duff says he doesn’t care, he cannot lie and lives by a code of integrity.

 

Adam says it’s like living like an animal and incredibly evolved at the same time and says it’s like living a pure life, Duff agrees, very interesting.

Adam is explaining his lack of germaphobia and Duff is sharing how he always gets sick, Adam is now describing the sweat wipe move that clues you into what you’re about to experience.

Adam is now sharing how he’s perplexed by the guy who wants a 2nd handshake upon leaving, Gina jokes about the sweaty greedy chap who needs more one on one time.

 

BB explains how many people want to hug BB after his book helped them through a cancer related crisis.

1st Story is on Bob Dylan’s supposed “snub’ of David Letterman after his final performance on ‘The Late Show’ and now Adam says that Bob gave him half a handshake after they watch the video.

Adam says that Bob should’ve done a classic sound that he hates and give Letterman a proper send off, Adam says that David can’t tell Bob what to play but you know he’s dying for a classic and not something new.

Adam says this moment is not about Bob, it’s about David and his audience.

 

Gina tries to move on to the next story, Adam stops it and takes it back to ‘Maggie’s Farm’ and shares his preference for John Hiatt over Bob Dylan.

Adam is back to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Adam further explains his likes and dislikes.

 

2nd Story is on a mother arrested for her child’s absences, Adam is now asking what’s going on and what’s up with the “Dream Police” and snack police, he laments the emails from his kid’s school and Duff shares his own observations.

Adam says you can’t mold kids the way people think, you can fuck them up but you can’t make them great.

Adam is now breaking down 10 years of Loveline into a few sentences and sharing how you can let kids be kids and let them grow up.

 

Adam is joking about the overwhelming number of camps for the kids, how the camps might soon have to combine as they occupy so much time and Gina tells Adam about pool passes for the kids of her era who had somewhat more relaxed upbringing when compared to kids today.

Duff is telling them about his older brother and how he got into music because of him.

Adam asks Duff about the Seattle public school system and now Gina is sharing how kids are learning all of these other things at camps as the schools are underfunded and it’s not being taught to them during the week.

 

Adam says that Duff would be in a band no matter what.

 

3rd Story is on Cocaine eating moths, Adam is joking about the guy working on this in the lab and she compares this to his attack crows’ idea.

Adam is hesitant as these moths will then grow larger and eat people, Adam says they should teach moths to eat your beard.

Adam suggests beard eating moths instead of shaving.

4th Story is on the “wife bonuses” being given out in high end neighborhoods, Duff is telling them about a beauty contest for girls with Cerebral Palsy.

Adam is sharing his promise to stop using a “sing songy” tone as his wife bonus, Duff says he can’t use that condescending tone in his house.

Duff is telling them about doing a book tour and how you can edit out all of your mistakes, unlike the pressure of speaking live and how it can end up sounding shitty.

 

Adam says he puts a hold on his sing songy voice while he’s in NYC, it’s got to be fair to him.

Gina wraps the news to “Smell Your Dick” a new drop we all knew BB was editing.
