Brandon T. Jackson Live from the Irvine Improv

Listen to the Adam Carolla Podcast

Show Summary

Adam opens the show talking with today’s guest, Brandon T. Jackson, about growing up in Detroit. Brandon announces that he just quit drinking today, and Adam talks about the problems with wine bottles. They also chat about why Brandon grew up without porn in his house, and what it’s like Skyping with someone in jail. Adam then answers audience questions about waterbeds, shaving his junk, and what his priorities would be if he were president.

Alison begins the news discussing the new internet meme of ‘Kevining.’ They also talk about an upcoming debate between John Stewart and Bill O’Reilly, and the time Adam signed up to be a firefighter. Another news story deals with the movement of sperm, and Adam recalls a hilarious Man Show bit he did with Jimmy Kimmel. Also in the news, Patrick Stewart got into a Twitter war, PETA is protesting the series Animal Practice, and a man was apprehended after trying to smuggle an endangered species in his underwear. As the show wraps up, Adam talks about how the shittier your country is, the cooler your insects are.

Why is it ok for a black entertainer to say “as long as they’re not voting for Romney”
    but the reverse be racist?

    • DR sbruce goose
      DR sbruce goose09-20-2012

please no more OBama end white guilt…..

    • .

Because when blacks and other minorities don’t get their way, it’s convenient to play the race card. Over 95% of African Americans voted for Obama in 2008, including many who had previously been apathetic towards politics. When’s the last time you saw a black person with a McCain or Romney sticker on their car? On the other hand, I see plenty of white people driving around with Obama stickers…

        • .

You have no intelligent response other than childish name calling… LOL

      • zdiggler

I live in middle of no where where politics are things. I have not seen any Romney stickers on cars, there sure were McCain stickers during last election. No body like Romney expect for line voters.

        • Murph

          Dear zdiggler,

WTF? What is your country of origin? Do you speak English?

Keep the dumb, drunk, O.C. skanks away from the mics at the live events for the love of Mike.

Love the ACE man. Can do w/out Mr Jackson.

  10. Ryan

Better live pod than last week, in my opinion. Adam seemed sharper and ran circles around this so called ‘comedian’ guest. Not sure why but the guests on the live podcasts are sub-par with a few exceptions like Jim Jeffries. And blurting out ‘as long as you don’t vote for Romney’ and flipping off a picture of Bill O’Reilly really impresses the audience and lets them know the vast depth of your political prowess. Then again, that’s par for the course for most libs.

  11. Casey

Did anyone else notice that “Kevining” looks like the Discount Double Check?

    • .

Saw that on the news yesterday. Reminds me of Adam’s peanut allergy rant. Politically correct fucktards inconveniencing the majority in order to accommodate a small percentage of offended/affected people.

Great job today, Bryan! Loved all the well-timed hilarious drops that really made the show special! You really earned your paycheck! Maybe when you want a vacation they can replace you with a chimp, or possibly a dexterous poodle.

Adam….try doing a show without the alcohol. C’mon…just try it.

    • Poochie's Uncle

So he can be funny like Brandon T. Jackson.

  19. DDameshek

Whats the news on Larry Miller? I thought he was going on the show soon.

  20. John

This guy is not funny. Naa mean?

  21. ShekRepublic

Today on a shuttle I was riding I heard some middle aged woman listening to Maneater on her ipod … loud enough so 4 rows away I could hear every craptastic lyric. Oooooh here she comes, look out boy she’ll chew you up! I had to bite my tongue not to burst out laughing. Someone has Maneater on their ipod and is rocking out to that shit on a regular basis. Good stuff.

Alpa China was more funny in the movie. Maybe it wasn’t the right venue for him or it’s the sober thing.

    • ShekRepublic

      Ooops I meant Alpa Chino.

      • JRock1970

you know you were humming it all day after hearing though huh?

  23. Brandon T. Jackoff
    Brandon T. Jackoff09-20-2012

Brandon Jackson was incredibly unfunny. His sense of humor just didn’t click with Adam and Allison, and they were constantly having to stop and explain things to him. His random interjection about Romney made him sound like a total douche. Props to Adam for letting it go and continuing on with the show.

    • John

How many times can one man say “gandelf is gay’ on a single podcast?

  24. nathan

love the ace man but had to skip this pod after about 5 mins and the 5000 Know’m sayin. i just couldn’t take it any longer. Can’t wait for tomorrow’s pod to wash away the memory of this one.

  25. Dhuvy

Great show, lot of uh, fun

  26. TS

Guest had good energy, good show.

  27. clausha

Well, I liked him a lot and I think Adam did, too. Adam is always better when he likes the guest and he was great on this pod! Get it on!

    Great live show for once…
guest was actually funny and Adam’s mic was turned down a notch.

  30. jmeggers

Allison is really coming into her groove.

I think having her own podcast is unlocking her inhibitions.

Having said that, I still refuse to listen to her retarded podcast.

  31. Matt

I hope Brandon Jackson never makes it on this show again. Enjoyed most of the show, just not when Brandon was talking.

And flipping off O’Reilly? Really? He must know a ton about the Aceman. ha.

  32. Lew Mack
    Lew Mack09-20-2012

Dr. Drew used his big toe? LMAO! Had me rolling Ace! Good shart!

  33. ian

“I’m sorry. I flipped of a picture of Bill O’Reiley. I mean, I’m a young black man. I gotta, I mean, for me, you know? ”

Yes. You’re an ignorant fuck and you’re conditioned, like Pavlov’s dog, to respond to certain words or images negatively. We understand.

  34. phil landers
    phil landers09-20-2012

Brandon T. J….whoa boy, I think you are going to have to strike a Faustian bargain with the demon rum. Presumably to have a career as a comedian you had to have a modicum of funny to get invited to join Ace and friends. I am assuming the lack of preparatory liquor lubrication left you unfunny as well as…not to put too fine a point on it …A HALF-TARD. So i am afraid as an entertainer you better hit the bottle or hit the bricks. Good luck , if I ever hear from you again I hope it is with slurred speech.

  35. Mason Jar
    Mason Jar09-20-2012

dang, that was bad. Brandon T who? Holy mackerel.

In an effort to not seem completely neg every time I post, I am looking forward to hearing Ray O. tomorrow!

  36. Howard

Everybody that gets on the live show comedians’s cases about not being very funny has to understand the difference between doing stand-up and being funny in conversation. Somebody said that Adam runs laps around other comedians like Jim Jefferies. They’re basically doing a live radio show, right? OF COURSE ADAM IS BETTER AT DOING A LIVE RADIO SHOW! He has 18 years of experience! All of the comedians that do live podcasts are occasionally on radio, whenever their shows don’t sell out before they arrive in a city. If you can’t understand that, then you’re ignorant. Adam is a hilarious dude, but at the same time, Adam couldn’t hold Jim’s (or 90% of the other live show guests) jock if they were one on one on stage with a microphone staring at a crowd of people. Jim and the rest just have more experience in that area. Hey, and by the way, if you don’t have anything nice to say, keep it to your fucking self.

    • Mark

Adam was good at radio from the first day he did Loveline. That said, I don’t really disagree with you on your points.

  37. Chet

We can pretty much all agree that Adam is a straight-up alcoholic, right?

  38. Douchebagel

Wow, Adam was actually on his game during a live show.. must be a first. The guest was actually tolerable too. More pod like this please!

  39. Tquag

    Adams running on 12 cylinders.
Mr T on 1. Not funny.

  40. Ironman82

When you drink most of the wine bottle so the dimple on the bottom is surrounded by the dregs is called a “wi-land”.

  41. Dick Face
    Dick Face09-21-2012

All right you opened the VH1 vault…why the hell did Ray want to shave your ASS Ace???

    • Roger

I find much of what good old Ray has done over the years to be, uh, questionable. I don’t know many 50 year old dudes that have never been married!

  42. Roger

That was the best live show in many months. I really liked the guest. I thought he was very funny and actually contributed to the show.

  43. JRock1970

I love all the “not funny” rants on here. Yeah, he’s not funny, they just put him in movies and he sells out comedy clubs all the time because he’s the world’s only unfunny comic. Meanwhile all you “critics” have orange keyboards because you couldn’t get all the cheetoes licked off your fingers. Dude has pretty much worked his way up from a comedian to being the star of a movie, no easy feat these days. I thought he was pretty entertaining, He’s probably funnier than Prater!

  44. Bill

Horrible. If Jackson was just unfunny and let Adam talk, it would have been fine. Instead, he insisted on trying to speak and couldn’t even form coherent sentences.

  45. Cannoneo

This Jackson kid was hilarious and his life story was interesting. Best live show in months. You people are rednecks.

    • Murph

I am not a “redneck,” but BTJ was not funny.

    • Dzjhon

He was not terrible, but also not great. There is no racial bigotry here.

  46. Matt Cortese
    Matt Cortese09-22-2012

Not a bad show. I think Brandon sounded nervous though. Some of his jokes/stories fell flat, and some were good. There were also a few times he tried to say something and no one even responded to it, which was a little weird. Perhaps his voice was quiet. At least he was trying, but sometimes his nervousness made him try too hard I think.

  47. Just Me
    Just Me09-22-2012

Hells Bells is one icky chick.

  48. Jetrin

Unlistenable! NO, I have no idea what you be sayin’. I don’t think you do either. Nice pot laugh too.

  49. SamuelJH

    Thank you.

  50. K-Man Pilkers
    K-Man Pilkers09-24-2012

Haha, I went to school in DeKalb. This is the second time I’ve heard Adam reference DeKalb (he must’ve done a Loveline show at Northern Illinois University at some point). There are worse places to be! It’s about an hour from Chicago, is a decent-sized (60,000 or so, including its sister city, Sycamore) college town and there are some good bars and plenty to do in the nearby Chicago suburbs.

It ain’t Nebraska or Iowa, is what I’m saying. :)

  51. Permanent

“If shirts could talk, do you think they’d be excited to be in your closet and owned by you?”
“Which toe do you think it was?”

Seriously, it is possible to ask stupider questions?

  52. Tim

Good to read that I wasn’t the only one who couldn’t handle Brandon T Jackson for more than a minute or two. I hate to skip an entire episode – especially a live one – but it was insufferable.

  53. sburns2421

Am I the only one that found Jackson incredibly unlikable?
