Show Summary
At the top of the show, Adam chats with Alison and Bryan about his horrible Labor Day weekend. Adam gives some updates on his dad’s health, and talks about a long day at the hospital with Ray. He also discusses how the Carollas reacted to past family member’s deaths, and complains about some things he saw in the hospital.
Next up, Adam welcomes both Brandon Steiner and Dave Dameshek to the studio. The guys discuss the ‘holy grail’ of sports memorabilia, and which sports players are collectors themselves. Adam also talks about basing your success off your chin, and what became of the Man Show memorabilia. Later, the guys reveal their predictions for NFL week one, and the show wraps up with the Creep of the Week.

A. The old satudio looked better.. The new one looks like you hung up bed sheets. It was awesome when the show was live every night on ustream. The choice of music before the actual show began was great. The chat room was great. The live video of the show prep was great.// Now you have some dark room where you can see the curls in the bed sheets hanging on the wall, and no live. NICE
this shows your lack of knowledge, the “sheets”, aside from displaying the company logo are used for sound dampening to minimize reverb/noise, the flatter and smoother the surface, the higher the likelihood for voices to bounce back into the mics – hence the reasoning for just hanging as is. in terms of eliminating the live stream, most likely there were not enough users of the service to make vs the amount of money they spent on running it. if you notice they are constantly doing advertisements throughout the show – it’s a business and the logical thing would be to cut something that is costing funds if it is not even breaking even.

In Re your father’s house and your own loan application
If a house is bought for 15K with 20% down payment, then later sold for 18K, that is a 3K increase. However, it is a 100% profit on capital, since 20% of 15K is 3K. You’re smart, Adam, you get what I’m saying to you here.
As for the bank wanting 30% down on your own current request, consider that the only thing keeping your bank open is Federal Reserve support and regulators looking the other way on the correct valuation of their existing real estate portfolio. If banks had to properly account for their loans, particularly the second mortgages, they would drop down a shaft to the center of the planet, and take us with them. In fact the whole financial system is only going because of trillions of dollars of support around the world. You had jack sh*t to do with that.
The only reason America isn;t in a Greece type of situation right now is that we have the native advantage of being the “World Currency”. Plain and simple…

I quit about halfway through. Sports can be interesting to watch, but listening to other people have a conversation about it second-hand is almost as dull as listening to people talk about what kind of music they like to listen to…
This isn’t the Tonight Show, it’s not going to draw such big celebrities that people will actually care about their stupid lives, hobbies or personal interests. Adam’s guests usually talk about topics with a narrow appeal, and Adam has to work his ass off to broaden the scope and bring things to a level most people can identify with.
It was more noticeable today than most days, because Adam was too distracted to single-handedly carry the show as well as he usually does, but he needs to have more comedians on who can at least TRY to help provide entertainment. I’m sorry, but all Damashek’s really got going for him is a vaguely cartoonish voice. I could listen to him riff about sandwich toppings maybe once a year or so, but twice a week? Um, no thanks.

Shek has some Will Ferrell in him… He’s hilarious in 10 minute dosrs if he’s not the lead act, and unbearable beyond that. I thoroughly enjoy his weekly appearances. Please don’t bring back Dave’s of Thunder.
I find it disturbing also to see how the elevator and bathroom were vandalized. However, Adam’s best buddy Ray is of the same mentality as that vandal. Ray is a big fan of flinging his feces and peeing on people. I wonder if Adam thinks Ray should also be put down.

Totally agree. Listening to Adam AND hear about sports is the best of both world. Those girls that are complaining need to do their nails instead of listening to a FREE podcast. Love me some Dameshek at least once a week. Love him on NFL network as well. Dave, don’t listen to these girls whine because for every 1 that complains there are 1000 that loves listening. For those that constantly take issue with comments about Adam being a rich douche should listen to this podcast closely.
His own father is on his death bed this weekend and Adam actually has to take issue with finding out that his dad has been getting $85 hair cuts? Wow. Time and place really are lost on the dude. He’s so arrogant that he just can’t get over himself? On the 12/13/11 podcast, Adam was literally in tears about his old friend Phillip The Juggler that he hadn’t seen in about 15 years but, his own dad just gets a callous jag about expensive hair cuts and how his holiday weekend was ruined.
Kind of a dick move.
It’s called comedy. I laughed. It’s why we listen.
Maybe that shows that where he has really feelings for Philip he doesn’t have such strong feelings for a man who was not a very good father.
Enough Dameshek… there is nothing even remotely humorous that ever comes out of that man’s mouth.

Adam tells a story about his dad almost dying and all people can complain about is too much sports or bad guests. If you don’t like sports don’t listen. It’s part of the show and a lot of us enjoy it.

Everyone complaining about Dave Dameshek, talking about sports, etc. – it’s not as if this is some wholly new thing. Sure Dameshek wasn’t on the program for a little while, but he was on the radio show for a long time, and Bald and Adam talk sports all the time.
Obviously the comedy aspect is one of the biggest reasons people listen to the podcast, but the rest is part of the package deal.
Tough news about Adam’s father. Best wishes to Adam and his family and to Jim Carolla hoping for a complete recovery. Stop bitching about Shek and show some support for Adam. He jokes about all this, but he is human and I am sure this is more difficult for him than he is letting on.

Does Adam actually think the federal government dictates the amount you have to put down on a loan/mortgage? The Federal Reserve (a private bank, with government appointed members) sets the amount of money a bank has to have on reserve based on their deposits and sets the discount rate to banks, but beyond that, the regulations are not all that stringent. I myself have never missed a single mortgage payment in my life, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to get any loan I want. Is it possible Adam is not as rich as he thinks he is or maybe is a little overextended?
Adam should try not being a victim so much.

I need to re-listen to this podcast because Alison had a hysterical one word comment after 15 minutes of not hearing her voice. It was when Adam, Shek, and Brandon (does anyone else think he is too old to be named Brandon? He looks like a Mort or a Stan) were yammering and I was only sort of listening. Loved listening to a New York blowhard after watching the Cowboys kick ass last night.
Had the same thought–some mixture of rage and ultimate satisfaction as I listened to this idiot, after watching the game Wednesda, talk about how the Cowboys have “no quarterback.” Anytime someone starts talking sh** about Romo I immediately tune them out, because anyone who actually watches football or knows anything about the game knows that Romo is elite, and one of the best in the game today, if not ever. This guy is a hack.
