This week Lynette and Stefanie are joined by former Green Beret and author of ‘Love Me When I’m Gone: The true story of life, love and loss for a Green Beret in post-9/11 war’, Robert Patrick Lewis and his wife Cindy Chiu. They also discuss an event both Lynette & Gary attended and reference this picture.

Daaayyymmmmmmmm! Lookin’ good Gary! Lynette looks stunning as well. Loved this episode. I love listening to you guys every Friday morning on my commute to work. Hope to be able to listen for a long time!
I agree! Hot stuff Gare Bear!
I hope that’s not Lynette…….looks like a “real housewife”, not the natural beauty we’ve all fell in luv with.
Hope thats just make up and fuzzy camera work.
The natural beauty we’ve all fell in love with? Maybe you should see a therapist about your obsession with her. I could care less if she fills her face full of botox and prays to a shrine of Real Housewife box sets. Step away from the laptop and go outside.
I love the podcast but had a hard time getting through the beginning of this one. Robert wants to talk about how the LAPD are not trained to use their weapons but thinks weapons in average citizens’ hands is a good idea. Sickening. He is trained but the people trained account for a very small percentage of the population. Mental health is a big issue but we can’t lock up every mentally unstable person. And doing a more thorough background check is a must! Not to mention, assault and automatic weapons should never be sold to someone that is not trained (i.e. police and military). Then I love how Cindy is conflicted because NOW she has kids and she was so scared because SHE knows people in Colorado. So her kids and the people she knows makes it more tragic?! No! I am so glad that Stefanie stood up for what she believes and didn’t just “yes and” Robert. We, as country, need to evolve and do what is best for everyone. We took the country by force but now we have a military to defend us and people are dying because we do not have better gun laws.
Jennifer, you took the words out of my mouth! Cindy sounds like she is subservient to him and seemed hesitant to voice her opinion. He certainly thinks his sh*t doesn’t stink but he sounds just like the NRA douches.
Thanks Stefanie for calling him out on gun control.
While I feel I should first thank Robert for his service to our country it seems he (as have so many others) has suffered from that in ways that perhaps make him someone who shouldn’t have guns. There was a mention of a problem with alcohol including “blackouts.” Was Cindy charged with making sure he couldn’t get his hands on a gun during those times?
Thank you all for pointing this out. While there is no question he is very intelligent and an expert on gun handling, 20 min later he’s talking about having an alcohol issue in dealing with what is likely PTSD. I thank him for serving our country and ensuring our rights I do. However, let’s not ignore the fact that perhaps arming him with a concealed weapon at all times whenever he pleases may not be the best answer when it comes to protecting our streets in civilian life. He didn’t seem to realize that he may be who “we” are afraid to arm. Am I wrong?
Well said, Jennifer and Lela, I totally agree with you. It’s good to hear other points of view but could stand anymore of Commando guy and his timid wife. He was really thought highly of himself.
Love the podcast and that you bring in a variety of guests, but just couldn’t get through this one.
“The Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act, H.R. 3355, Pub.L. 103–322, (commonly referred to as the Assault Weapons Ban) was an act of Congress dealing with crime and law enforcement that became law in 1994.”
.
“The Columbine High School massacre was a school shooting which occurred on April 20, 1999″
.
WOW. ASSAULT WEAPON BANS SURE DO WORK! LET’S KEEP MAKING STRICTER GUN LAWS INSTEAD OF ENFORCING THE ONES THAT ALREADY EXIST. DOES ANYONE EVEN KNOW THE DEFINITION OF AN “ASSAULT RIFLE”? THAT TERM IS THROWN AROUND SO MUCH AS A SCARE TACTIC, WHEN IT REALLY IS JUST A DESCRIPTION OF THE GUN’S COSMETICS AND SIMILAR APPEARANCE TO MILITARY WEAPONS (HENCE: “MILITARY STYLE”). IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE GUN’S FUNCTIONALITY!!!!!
.
“Two-thirds of all gun-related deaths in the United States are suicides.”
.
“In 2010 there were 358 murders involving rifles. Murders involving the use of pistols in the US that same year totaled 6,009″
.
FUNNY HOW MOST GUN DEATHS ARE THE RESULT OF UNEDUCATED, SAVAGE THUGS (URBAN BLACKS) SHOOTING EACH OTHER AND PEOPLE BLOWING THEIR OWN BRAINS OUT, YET RIFLES ARE SEEN AS THE PROBLEM. ANTI-GUN POLITICIANS LOVE TO TAKE THE TOTAL GUN DEATHS PER YEAR AND ASSOCIATE THAT WITH SCHOOL SHOOTINGS. IF YOU CALL ME A RACIST FOR THE “BLACK” COMMENT, THEN YOU ARE PART OF THE PROBLEM. THESE POLITICALLY CORRECT PUSSIES REFUSE TO ACKNOWLEDGE PROBLEMS IN THE BLACK COMMUNITY. THE BULK OF GUN VIOLENCE WILL NOT BE REDUCED UNTIL THAT IS ADDRESSED.
You missed his point…….by a mile.
He was pointing out how incompetent the police can be and that you are foolish to put your blind trust and life in their hands. He was comparing that incompetence to the fact that he ( a trained combat veteran) can not legally conceal carry a firearm.
Again this topic is full of a lack of accurate facts….as shown by Stephanie’s thoughts on semi vs. full auto…..she seems eager to casually compromise the United Stated Constitution based on fear and ignorance to knowledge.
Frankly the more I see Police overstepping the law, brutality, illegal searches and retaliatory arrests, the more I feel that the police need more training in Law, Social science, and Psychology rather than firearms training. The Sgt’s point on the LAPD firing 60 shots at the wrong Dorner truck proves this point. Would those 2 women be justified in trying to defend themselves in that case? They were clearly being targeted for murder. If they fired back, I think they would be morally justified.
Great podcast today! I made a Zulily order last week using the FCOL coupon code and wanted to place another order today but the website said the coupon code had already been used. Is the coupon code a one time only type thing?
I so wanted to hear his thoughts on having women serving in all aspects of the military! Very interesting couple.
I fapped.
Wow, Lynette you are gorgeous.
Oh and great show, enjoy listening to you guys all the time, I’m a 24 years old male, so not sure if I’m your targeted audience, but I listen anyways. Gathering as many tips as I can for when I actually become a father, I won’t become one of those horrible dads.
And Stefanie you’re hilarious, you crack me up all the time, love when you talk about your kids and all that you go through with them. Btw Parental Discretion it’s a great show, hope it gets picked up for another season.
Keep up the good work ladies, and Gary, lol.
holy moley lynette! you are outof this world beautiful! gary looks very handsome as well. great episode. i thought stephanie did a phenomenal job interviewing the couple. stephanie, your view was clear to me as a listener but not in any way aggressive. i think you really showed how a thoughtful and open discussion can happen between people who have starkly contrasting views on a very highly charged issue. gary’s additions and clarifications as well as lynette’s personal stories rounded out the conversation. this was really a special episode. i think if more people addressed the issue of gun control in the way that stephanie and lynette did we might be able to come to an understanding and comprehensive policy rather that just offending each other away from trying to find solutions. as someone who is in favor of strong gun control (even maybe anti gun totally) i felt stephanie brought out the best in someone who is very pro second amendment. i may not agree but i could see the other side’s point! thank you!
Hi Guys
I really love your podcast and found you most recent one very interesting but totally disagree with that guy’s stance on gun laws. He talks about civilians having guns so that they can take out shooters before they hurt too many people but if these shooters did not have access to guns in the first place wouldn’t that negate the need to arm civilians?
I live in Brisbane in Australia and I wouldn’t even know where to buy a gun and my friends are the same. I followed the media after the Aurora shooting and the Newtown shooting and was blown away by the number of people who thought that these event could have been prevented by more people having guns.
The thought of a teacher in my kid’s school having a gun on school grounds terrifies me. If there are guns on school premises, kids with the desire to get their hands on it would manage to do so.
I really cannot fathom how giving more people guns is meant to reduce shootings.
I would be interested to learn other people’s views on the idea that teachers should be armed in schools.
Again I really love the show, Keep up the great work
Alex
“…but if these shooters did not have access to guns in the first place wouldn’t that negate the need to arm civilians?”
.
THESE DICKHEADS WILL GET ACCESS TO GUNS REGARDLESS OF LEGAL ROADBLOCKS. IF THEY WANT TO KILL LOTS OF PEOPLE, THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO DO SO. UNFORTUNATELY, THESE EVENTS WILL CONTINUE TO HAPPEN BECAUSE WE DON’T, AND WILL NEVER, LIVE IN A UTOPIAN SOCIETY. AGREE THOUGH ABOUT TEACHERS HAVING GUNS. ONLY PEOPLE WHO SHOULD HAVE GUNS IN SCHOOLS ARE SECURITY GUARDS.
“GUNS DON’T KILL PEOPLE…..BULLETS KILL PEOPLE” (Late Sen. Patrick Moynihan)
Solution: Register (serialize) all bullets (they do this with diamonds) and have a “Chain of Custody documentation” from point of manufacturer to retailer to end user.
The end user would have to explain the reason for the bullets in the dead body.
The NRA is even against this possible solution to hold people accountable.
“THESE DICKHEADS WILL GET ACCESS TO GUNS REGARDLESS OF LEGAL ROADBLOCKS. IF THEY WANT TO KILL LOTS OF PEOPLE, THEY WILL FIND A WAY TO DO SO.”
Actually they won’t and if they do it will be on a much stronger scale.
Word of advice, using caps isn’t helping your stance. Using caps on internet forums just makes you look like an elderly person or a little crazy.
THANKS FOR THE INPUT, LORRAINE. GOOD TALK.
@ “.” -troll around much? You’re pretty much stalking the comments here. You’re the new “Ras”. Posting a few too many comments thinking Stefanie or Lynnette will care.
I’d love to move to Australia, then! At least they never had to fight off those bad redcoats and worry about needing to arm themselves against them (2nd ammendment) and house them (3rd ammendment) like we Americans still seem to be obsessing over! Americans bicker way too much and we never move FORWARD in SOLVING anything or making this country any better at all. We’re stagnating, sadly enough, our glory days are behind us.
We’ll never move forward because most people’s political views are too far to the left or right. Voters seem content to continue electing these phony Republicans and Democrats, when what we really need is some good ol’ competition from a strong third party.
How does Adam complain so well for so long with a wife so hot and so nice? #asperger
Loved this episode. Even with differing views on the topics it wasn’t uncomfortable. That is what I love about the show. I personally like Roberts view on the topic of guns and our society. Great guests. Keep up the great work Lynette and Stephanie!!!
Loved the show, as always. Thank you Robert and Cindy both for your service to our country! My husband is a veteran that also suffers from PTSD, so my heart goes out to you both. Even though I lean more towards the left, I appreciate your views and the fact that you didn’t come across as abrasive as some (on both sides). Anyways GREAT show and I want more!
I think it’s a very interesting podcast, and I definitely agree with Robert on the subject of gun control. All you have to do is look at Chicago’s gun control laws. Their laws are the strictest in the country, yet they have one of the highest firearm murder rate in the country, and in fact the murder rate was 17% lower before the stricter laws were put in place. This shows me that criminals will still find ways to get guns, and they will use them. By taking away the guns from the innocent, criminals don’t have to worry that they might get shot if they break into someone’s house, or if they start shooting off rounds in public. Do we need a more comprehensive training process and mental health screening before we give people gun permits? Yes. Once we implement a plan of action to do that, I think we can gradually reduce the amount of mass murders and accidental shootings.
Right on. Guns in the hands of law-abiding citizens act as a deterrent for potential home invasions and other crimes. NEWS FLASH: Many criminals don’t use legal guns! What makes people think they would adhere to any new gun laws/bans? Responsible, legal gun owners are not the problem, so stop punishing them! Maybe we should instead focus on cutting off the source of illegal guns, and cracking down on all those savages shooting each other in the hood. School shootings steal all the attention, yet represent a small portion of gun violence. We only seem to care when it hits home…
Stefanie: Typical lefty bitching and moaning about Fox News bias, when pretty much every other news channel leans left: (NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN). God forbid there be one news channel that caters to Republicans. Why do people believe Dorner’s claims simply because he said so in his super-duper manifesto? When someone makes a claim, they then have burden of proof. His credibility flew out the window when he started killing people. It seems these retards are content to go off of speculation and emotion. He burned in a cabin? So what. He’s a murderer! Good riddance… Also had a good laugh when she claimed that anyone can go out and purchase automatic weapons.
Gary,
Lynette is looking even more fantastic. since, you read the comments, can you ask her to dish on what she does for maintenance? i think she mentioned she had a peel, I’d love to know more.
Ps. Thank her for the recommendation of tropez tanner, I love is.
I second everything you said, and would also like Stephs input. I think 5 or 10 minutes on products and procedures they use and recommend or not would be great. At least think about it. Thanks!
Looking good, Gary and Lynette!
I thought they both voiced their opinions well concerning gun control and were a cute couple.
While I respect his service-
Kudos to Stephanie who did not let him skate thru with his Right Agenda ,
and asked follow up questions.
And,regarding the balance of left or right media as a poster mentioned above, there is more than cable tv as an conduit.
I am in the third largest city. We can choose from three “Right” AM stations & only one “Left” radio station , on a weak FM signal, by the way.
So, instead of addressing the overwhelming lefty media bias in television, you’re choosing to deflect my true statement and complain about your shitty radio reception. AM radio has been dead for years, and FM radio is dying. Why don’t you stop trying to make the conversation about something else, and accept that Stefanie was bitching about right-wing bias in TELEVISION. I am referring to widely broadcasted television stations and you are talking about local radio stations. It’s not anybody’s fault that you live in an area that conflicts with your views and can’t afford satellite radio. As Southwest Airlines says: “You are now free to move about the country”.
Great show! I loved hearing Robert Lewis and Cindy’s view on gun control, dealing with PTSD after active duty, and their aspirations for the camp for fallen soldiers’ children. It’s so nice to finally hear the perspective of an educated conservative on gun control. It was also interesting hearing his wife’s view as well and how it has changed a bit after having children. Great guests, my favorite so far this year. Also, thanks for putting up a picture of Gary. It’s nice now pairing a face to the voice. Keep up the good work.
Can Stephanie and Lynette share some of their favorite beauty finds/products?
They are beautiful inside and out.
Great. I agree.
